Romochka breaks down his artistry and what's next to come..

Christian Rapper Romochka

We love to discover new christian creatives and are so happy we had a chance to interview this artist. We asked Romochka a few short questions about his artistry and what to expect next. Here's what he had to say..

Every artist has a unique story. Can you tell us a little about yours?

"I've always loved music, growing up I would listen to music all day everyday. When I got my first headphones I would tuck them under my shirt and have one headphone in at work, school, playing sports, everywhere. Around 2019 I attempted to record my first songs on a video editing software. I didn't have any music recording gear so I used my mic on the headphones and would record over youtube beats I downloaded. 2020 I finally got garage band and started recording my first full songs. 2021 I posted my first song on Soundcloud and would post all my stuff on there. The fall of 2022 was when I went on all platforms and dropped my single "Happy" on all platforms. And its kinda been going on since then, I made an album called "Shattered Dreams" in 2023 and a couple singles after that."..

Please tell us about your art. What do you do / make / create? How? Why? What’s the message or inspiration, what do you hope people take away from it?

"I make "christian rap" for Gods Glory and for the edification of other believers. The goal of all believers is to bring people to Christ to further his kingdom. At the end of the day we will all be forgotten, only Jesus will be remembered and get all the glory! So I want my music to be relatable but also edifying to believers and for non believers to listen and have a seed planted in their heart or for them to even come to Christ! Every song I make, I pray that the Holy Spirit gives me lyrics. I've had songs like "Revival ft. malachi." and "Praise" that i prayed about and the Spirit gave me lyrics right at that moment and the I made the songs in less than 30 minutes. Making songs on your own strength is very difficult sometimes and draining, but when God is working you can tell, the lyrics just flow! ALL GLORY TO GOD."..

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

"You can follow me on Instagram to see updates and posts about songs or even words that God puts on my heart. Other than that i'm on all platforms, Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, etc... you can share the music, that would be much appreciated!"..

When and why did you start playing/making music?

"Funny enough my first song was about a heartbreak. I went through a situation in life and I decided to make a song about it. I really enjoyed making music about things I went through in life. But as I got closer to Christ I realized that I can make music for Gods glory, and thats what I started doing. To this day my goal is to make music that is for God, but I do also make songs about something I am going through in life or have gone through in hope that someone can relate and get something out of it. Or just knowing that someone else in life has gone through or is going through something that you are facing, I think that its very encouraging."..

Tell us a little about your faith journey and how you came to give your life to Jesus?

"I grew up in a christian family, I have loving parents and a lot of siblings. My whole life I have been taught about Jesus and what is good and what is wrong, but I never really knew Jesus personally. I lived in the world, not really doing anything "crazy", but just being a religious Christian who followed rules and never really new Christ. When I entered high school I started becoming depressed with life. I became very pessimistic, not really seeing anything good in life or in others. I started seeking happiness in worldly things like movies, games, food, porn, etc.. things that gave temporary satisfaction/escape from reality. I became addicted and started letting myself go both physically and spiritually. Senior year I hit my lowest point in life, getting to a point were I came to a conclusion that life wasn't really worth living. There was one night I was driving home from church, my family was having a party but I didn't want to go. I decided to turn on the radio and a song came on, the lyrics really spoke to me and I knew that was God talking to me. I started tearing up and I came home and for the first time in life I had a genuine prayer with God. That was the night I gave my life to Christ, I remembering getting up and smiling for the first time in a long time. Since that day I have been living for Jesus, I took water baptism that same year as a sign to show others that I have died to my old self and have been risen with Christ! To say that life got easier from that day would be a lie! There are still many days that are hard but I no longer turn to worldly satisfaction to find freedom or joy, instead I come to Jesus the one who gives true freedom and joy! To anyone that is reading and is struggling in life with depression, addiction, etc... there is HOPE, its found in Jesus! Give your life to Him and there will be change!"..

What advice would you give up and coming independent artists?

"If you are a christian artist spend time in prayer and the word! You'll see how the Holy Spirit will work through you when you spend time with God! It's hard to make music about a life that you don't live. If you don't walk the Christian walk its difficult to make music that is for God or for edification of others. Dont be afraid to take criticism, not every song you make will be a masterpiece. Be PATIENT! One thing I struggle with myself is waiting for a song to "blow up" some artists take years till a song does well, but remember you do this for God. Trust His plan, if you're meant to blow, it'll happen!"..

Are you planning on staying independent as an artist? What's the next move?

"Music is more of a hobby for me, I really enjoy making songs. If God allows me to make this my full-time career that would be amazing but if not thats ok too!"..

What can we expect next from you?

"Im always working on music, I have a few songs i'm working on right now. I don't have a release date yet, but sometime in the future. I'm always looking for collabs, so if any artist is reading and would want to make a song hit me up, i'm always down!"
