TAXI on his song "Freckles"
Released in 2021 but still a bop..
We love to discover new music and so happy we stumbled across this gem. We asked TAXI a few short questions about his song "Freckles". Here's what he had to say about it..
What inspired this song?
"At its core, 'Freckles' is about wanting to get to know what makes a person unique - the youthful energy of chance encounters radiates through every sonic element in the track. This track leans into commercial pop similar to the sounds of DNCE, Charlie Puth, and Dua Lipa. However, the chorus pulls inspiration from old school funk sounds of Earth, Wind, and Fire, while the vocals nod to pop greats like Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, and the overall energy is reminiscent of disco/dance artists such as SG Lewis and Breakbot. Sonically, 'Freckles' is a high energy track designed to make people get up and dance, while still maintaining that effortlessly groovy cadence - it can best be described as smooth pop-funk. Similar to the new Silk Sonic record, it's cheeky and a bit seductive but ultimately well intentioned and fun."..
What do you hope the listener takes away from the song?
"'Freckles' is the perfect song to blast in the car with friends, at your pre-game, or in your funky DJ set. It pairs best with good friends and good times."..
What can we expect next from you?
"I have another new song coming soon, sometime this summer that's got some swing! It's heavily influenced by the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Mac Ayres, Amber Mark, and Mac Miller."
