creed caldwell breaks down his artistry and what's next to come..
We love to discover new music and are so happy we had a chance to interview this artist. We asked creed caldwell a few short questions about his artistry and what to expect next. Here's what he had to say..
Every artist has a unique story. Can you tell us a little about yours?
"My name is Brandon Caldwell. I am an aspiring hiphop artist from Nashville , TN. I go by the stage name, Creed Caldwell. I chose Creed Caldwell because it’s a mix of my real name and a nickname I got from an organization call Bridging The Gap Urban Ministry (BTG) The meaning behind the my name is “ I live by every word I breathe and have been called well to everything that is for me. I never take my words or platform light and only choose to speak about things that are truly authentic/relatable to me."..
Please tell us about your art. What do you do / make / create? How? Why? What’s the message or inspiration, what do you hope people take away from it? What should we know about your artwork?
"I grew up in a low income environment in the hood where there were not a lot of opportunities for growth or success. I want to a voice to people who grew up like me and show them you can make a difference no matter what your initial circumstance are. I make music to give people Love, Connection, Peace, and Hope. I honestly just want to show that I’m just a regular guy who is pursuing his dream he had a kid and anyone can do it as long as you put your mind to it."..
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
"You can find my music on all streaming platforms and on all social media @creedcaldwell"..
What's your favorite venue to attend/perform and why?
"I’ve haven’t had the chance to perform a lot because I’m super new to the music industry but one of the places I would love to perform is the Bridgestone arena in Nashville. I think would be an insane experience to perform in an Arena where I grew up."..
What's your favorite song/project you've been apart of?
"recently released my latest single, entitled Get it right. This song is a glimpse of the past few years of my life from all the pain, tragedy, and loss Ive just been sitting with. This is my chance to share it with all the folks willing to listen. Even though this was a therapeutic/vent session for me I pray it speaks to someone who may be dealing with similar life circumstances. I want them to know there is nothing wrong with fighting to get your life right."..
Did anyone influence you to start doing music?
"My musical influences are J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Saba because they use their storytelling ability to shed light on issues in there community in a relatable way. Hearing them really sparked my interest in sharing my own with others while also giving me a standard and level that can be achieved through hard work and authenticity."..
Who does what? Tell me about your team. Do you handle it all? Producer/Engineer/Writing etc.
"I don’t have a team in place right now but I am looking to build one as I start to grow in the music industry. I currently just focus on writing and work with different producers trying to find the perfect sounds for me. I’ve with 99 Apex and Austin Chapline the most but I’m always looking for new beats along as I vibe with with them. Right now the biggest focus is perfecting my craft and growing as much as I can."..
What advice would you give up and coming independent artists?
"The biggest piece of advice I would to give is don’t overthink to much. As a perfectionist I know what is like to want you art to be as good as it can be but just know everything is a work in progress. Your main focus in the beginning should be getting better with every song you make. It may not sound perfect at first but as long as your growing your will reach a point of mastery. Often we can get to hung up on trying to make things perfect so me miss on an opportunity to help someone who may need our art. Plus enjoying the process is part of the reason you can actually get better because you give yourself freedom to try anything and see what works."..
What differentiates you and your art from other artists/musicians?
"Music at its purest form invokes an emotional response and Hip Hop at its core advocates on behalf folks who may not have the words to articulate what they are going through on a regular basis. I meet in the middle by blending words in lyrical manner seamlessly throughout instrumentation until they are one in the same. I believe I’m different because of my focus on lyricism but delivering the words in an easily digestible and relatable manner. While tying everything back with my relationship with God."..
